Former President Benigno Aquino III, defeated Presidential candidate Mar Roxas and five more officials faced graft and plunder cases after the former administration allegedly transferred gold worth $141-B in Thailand.
The five more officials who faced graft and plunder case right now are Senator Leila De Lima, Senator Franklin Drilon, former Finance Secretary Cesar Purisima, Treasury Department chief dealer Lorelei Fernandez and Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas Government Armando Tetangco.
The case was based on the circular of the Central Bank of the Philippines that there’s a 3,500 metric tons of gold that transferred in Bank of Thailand.
The circular was signed by BSP Government Tetangco, Sen Franklin Drilon, former Department of Justice Secretary Leila De Lima, Cesar Purisima of Department of Finance and Treasury Department chief dealer Lorelei Fernandez.
According to the source of the evidences, the gold can still be brought back in the Philippines if the cases filed to the officials succeeded.
The officials who allegedly involved in the gold transfer is not yet giving any statement about the case that filed against them.
