Two current Senators of the Philippines were allegedly received drug money from Eastern Visayas drug lord Kerwin Espinosa, according to the sworn statement he has prepared, Sandra Cam said Monday.
One Senator, received P5.7 million from the Espinosas in 2015. The money was delivered in October (P1.7 million), November (P2 million) and December 2015 (P2 million).
She believes that if the Senator received drug money from a drug lord, it means that he or she is a drug protector.
Cam was shocked when Espinosa revealed that not only one current Senator was allegedly linked into illegal drugs.
“Kahindik–hindik na hindi natin kakayaning tingnan ang mga pangalang pinangalanan nya,” she said in a chance interview
Espinosa also implicated very high-level personalities including congressmen, governors, police generals and other government officials and some of them are still serving in public.
Last week, Senator Leila De Lima already expected that Espinosa would testify against her because of the government efforts to bring her down.
The younger Espinosa is expected to testify at Philippine National Police Headquarters in Camp Crame on Wednesday.
