Malacañang Slams Leni Robredo: “H’wag Gamitin Ang Sakuna Upang Mamulitika”

Malacanang Palace on Wednesday slammed Vice President Leni Robredo and told her not to capitalize on slow disaster operations for her own political gains.

The Presidential Spokesperson believed that the remarks of Vice President Robredo, the new voice of the opposition was a political move to take advantage of the disaster.

The remark Ms. Robredo made saying that the relief operations were ‘slow’ suggests a cynical political mindset willing to capitalize on disaster,” Presidential spokesperson Ernesto Abella said in his statement.

After her Christmas vacation in United States, Vice President Leni Robredo criticized the alleged slow relief operations in the places where Typhoon Nina hit.

She also said that electricity was not yet restored in some areas, eight days since the Typhoon battered the Bicol region and other provinces in the Philippines.

Abella said in his statement that the social workers and other volunteers was already there in the places where the Typhoon was expected to hit before its landfall.

He hopes that the Vice President appreciate what the volunteers and other government officials did to save many lives during Typhoon Nina.

“One wished she displayed more appreciation of the work of our disaster officials, our social workers, and other volunteers who were on Ground Zero even before ‘Nina’ made a landfall,” Abella said.

The Palace also announced a P182-B worth of relief assistance was provided to affected families of the Typhoon in Region 4-A, Region 4-B, Region 5 and VIII.
