Sen. Manny Pacquiao on Tuesday said suspected drug lord Kerwin Espinosa tagged Sen. Leila de Lima as one of the officials who received drug money from him.
Pacquiao revealed in an interview with News To Go that according to Espinosa, De Lima received P8 million from him.
“Isa lang po ang nabanggit niya sa [sworn] statement niya… Na-mention niya si Leila de Lima,” Pacquiao said. “Idinetalye po niya. Ayon sa kanya, sa salaysay niya ay nasa walong milyon daw po ang naibigay niya kay De Lima.”
He said that according to Espinosa, the money was handed to a person named Dayan. The senator, however, did not particularly say if that person was De Lima’s former driver-bodyguard and lover Ronnie Dayan.
There was even a time when Espinosa was told by Dayan to deliver money in Baguio City.
“Pinapunta siya ng Dayan ang pangalan na tao ni De Lima para ma-confirm na utos talaga ni de Lima ang mga transaksyon nila,” Pacquiao said.
The senator said several other people, including elected officials and police officials, were also mentioned by Espinosa in his affidavit.
“Tutal may affidavit naman siya na isusumite sa Senate. malalaman natin iyan bukas sa Senate hearing,” Pacquiao added.
Pacquiao said Espinosa revealed contents of his affidavit during their meeting at Camp Crame last week, which last for at least an hour.
De Lima had said that she is expecting Espinosa to tag her in drug operations. She had repeatedly denied that she is involved in the illegal drug trade.
Whistleblower Sandra Cam on Monday said that Espinosa will name at least two incumbent senators, along with other high-ranking government officials, who supposedly received drug money.
Cam claimed Espinosa personally delivered money amounting to a total of P5.7 million to one senator back in 2015.
Espinosa is expected to attend the Senate public order committee hearing, headed by Sen. Panfilo Lacson, on Wednesday.
